In 2009 and 2010, he worked as part of a creative group of artists who painted the Transfiguration Cathedral of the complex of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior under the direction of E.N. Maksimov.
Since 2005, takes an active part in art exhibitions.

Nikita Makarov is attracted by the discreet beauty of the world — not a wild landscape, but an inhabited environment where urban culture is interfaced with nature. Its landscapes, whether it is a deserted European beach in the evening twilight or a snow-covered Russian city resembling a fabulous scenery, are perceived as strange, unreal mise-en-scenes — border zones between a dream and everyday life. In these seemingly calm, serene paintings, far from the collisions of today's life, the artist leads an enthusiastic dialogue with the past and at the same time plays out the historically established conventions of the genre, revealing in its own way a complex, existentially pointed image of the present. © Andrey Egorov, Anna Harutyunyan.
