Zhilina Ekaterina
Ekaterina is concerned about the themes of totalitarianism, the GULAG, the unreflection of historical events, the manifestation of violence at the state level and micro-violence - from person to person and in relation to oneself. Prefers to develop topics from field research through private stories and experiences. He is interested in how verbally formulated attitudes fix and shape reality on a personal and social level.
Works in painting techniques (oil, acrylic), in printing techniques (dry needle, silk screen printing), makes black and white graphics (ink, black pencil).
In 2017 she became interested in theater and took several intensive courses and a laboratory at Gogol School. In the summer of 2018 she participated in the performance Sardonia Herba by Yuri Kvyatkovsky at the Archstoy and in the "Train of the World". In 2019 she took a monodrama course with NOL.Project, wrote and performed a monodrama on the site NOL. In 2019 she participated in the performance of Maxim Didenko and Vladimir Varnava "Collider" at the festival of contemporary art "Form". In August 2019 she was selected for the theater residence "The Drum is Resting", where, as an artist, she worked on sketches of the performances "Cherry Decline”, "Bathing is forbidden”, "Adepters". As part of the residence, she made a performance exhibition "About seven Portraits". In November- December 2019 she created a series of paintings with acrylic on the theme of children's matinees, in the summer of 2020 she defended her diploma in DPO Illustration (BHSD), at the same time, within the framework of the residence in a remote format, she made a series of portraits of residents of the Partalsky STUMP.

- 2020 - BHSD diploma project "Translatio", 4 oil paintings based on screenshots of broadcasts of users of the Odnoklassniki social network, oil, 70*120 cm

MINDSCAPES PROJECT (2020-2021)
A series of paintings-manuscripts, rice paper, soil, oil. The sheets are fragile, thin, rice paper is not primed at the edges, these are fields that do not carry a semantic load and take on the "blow" of the process of creating and handling work: crumple, get dirty, break off.
The scroll as a form implies narrative, documentary: events that took place in the past, but were reconstructed from the words of an unreliable witness.
The Russian splint, medieval marginalia served as a reference. These crude and conventional pictures are used in memes and incredibly accurately reflect the feeling of a modern person from reality. A person tries to protect himself from the indescribability of the world with a narrative (logic, cause-and-effect relationships), but in the era of deepfakes and manipulation of the media space, reality is perceived as a retelling of retellings that contradict one another, forming a vibrating, schizophrenic picture, white noise.
