Yurashevich Ekaterina
Ekaterina Yurashevich was born in 1987 in Klimovsk. Since 2012, she has been combining artistic and teaching activities.In 2014, she took a refresher course on the topic "History of the avant-garde". Repeatedly (2015-2017), as part of a group of artists, she participated in the painting of the women's Catholic monastery of the Order of St. Elizabeth in Rome, Italy. Since 2020, he is a member of the Association of Botanical Artists.
I work in the animalistic genre. I am concerned about the problem of species extinction. In my works, I show animals that no longer exist in nature and those whose existence depends on us. I study and analyze the animal world and the process of human influence on the population of species. Through the visual image, I convey my ideas and values to the viewer, emphasize the vulnerability and insecurity of nature and its creatures.The philosophy of minimalism is close to me, so visually the works are simple, textured, made in natural colors. These creatures, frozen in an instant, resemble an archaeological find. Most likely, for future generations, they will become almost mythical, like dinosaurs are now for us.To create artwork, I try to reuse materials, such as recycled paper that I make myself or materials that I already have to reduce consumption. Environment series
Death seems to me to be a stigmatized topic that they do not like to talk about. The dead bodies of animals that we sometimes meet on the street cause disgust and a feeling of disgust. Their death is annoying. At the same time, the death of homeless and wild animals is also considered insignificant, they try not to notice it. In this regard, the question arises: if the body does not feel anything, life in it has stopped, what has it become now? Rubbish? Waste? The difference between these words is well known to those who are interested in caring for the environment, recycling and recycling. In the wild, the body of a dead animal is food for scavengers and insects, as well as material that is processed by microorganisms. In this case, the death of the animal becomes an important element in the cycle of life. In the city, the corpse of a street animal is usually sent to a landfill, slowly rots, surrounded by plastic bags and bottles. Among the rubbish, the dead body is rubbish. It will decompose only after many years, without giving the soil a single drop of benefit. This is the cycle of death.
This project demonstrates how the body of a dead animal can be integrated into its familiar habitat. This is an attempt to create an environment for the posthumous "dialogue" of a living being with the place of his death, into which a person bursts. The works traces a change in the natural habitat of dead "models", which often becomes destructive for them. The series is also a visual reflection on the body's metamorphosis after its physical death.
